Daxxify vs. Jeuveau: Peptide-Stabilized Six-Month Toxin vs. Budget-Friendly “Newtox” (2026 Guide)
Mechanism, onset, duration, dosing, and cost — an honest, clinically-grounded comparison of Daxxify and Jeuveau from Naya Wellness’s medical team.
If you are weighing Daxxify against Jeuveau, you are comparing two of the more interesting outliers in the neurotoxin category. Daxxify is the peptide-stabilized long-acting product studied at six months of duration; Jeuveau is the aesthetics-only “Newtox” engineered by Evolus with Hi-Pure manufacturing and a deliberately budget-friendly per-unit price.
The two were FDA-approved less than four years apart but target almost opposite patient profiles. This guide walks through the mechanism, onset, duration, dosing, cost, side effects, and ideal candidate for each — and because Naya does not currently carry Jeuveau, we are also transparent about the closest analog on our menu if Jeuveau is what drew you in.
A note on availability at Naya Wellness
Naya carries Botox, Dysport, Daxxify, and Letybo at our Chatsworth and Santa Barbara clinics. We do not currently offer Jeuveau. We have written this comparison so you can make a fully informed choice; if Jeuveau is genuinely the right product for you, we will tell you that. If a product we do carry is a close clinical fit, we will explain why in the recommendation section at the end.
Quick Take
Daxxify lasts roughly twice as long as Jeuveau — approximately six months vs. 3 to 4 months — but costs roughly two to three times as much per treatment. Jeuveau is structurally a near-twin of Botox: 900 kDa complex, 20-unit glabellar dose, 1:1 dosing, and a 3 to 4 month duration, just priced 20 to 30% lower. Daxxify is a deliberately engineered long-acting product built on a 150 kDa core toxin stabilized by a peptide called RTP-004 instead of human serum albumin. If you are optimizing for the fewest visits per year, Daxxify. If you are optimizing for lowest per-treatment cost, Jeuveau. The two rarely compete for the same patient.
What Daxxify and Jeuveau Actually Are
Both are purified type A botulinum toxins, and both quiet the same muscles by blocking acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. The differences sit in formulation, excipient, and the manufacturer’s strategy in launching the product.
- Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) — made by Revance Therapeutics, FDA-approved for glabellar lines in September 2022. It is built on a 150 kDa core toxin and stabilized by a proprietary peptide excipient called RTP-004 instead of the human serum albumin used in most other neurotoxins. That peptide is the structural reason Daxxify is studied with a six-month median duration.
- Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) — made by Evolus, FDA-approved for glabellar lines in February 2019. Jeuveau uses a roughly 900 kDa complex with human serum albumin and is manufactured via a “Hi-Pure” process Evolus uses as a marketing differentiator. It was approved exclusively for cosmetic use — there is no therapeutic Jeuveau, which is why it gets called “Newtox.”
The simplest way to think about it: Jeuveau is a Botox-shaped competitor priced to undercut the gold standard, while Daxxify is a structurally different molecule engineered to last longer than the entire category.
Onset: How Quickly Will You See Results?
Both products are in roughly the same onset window, with Daxxify having a slight edge for early responders.
- Daxxify onset: Most patients see softening at 1–4 days, with peak effect at approximately 14 days.
- Jeuveau onset: Most patients see softening at 2–3 days, with peak effect at approximately 10–14 days.
For a patient with a time-sensitive event, neither product is a clear loser — both will be substantially in effect within a week. The real timing difference between them is on the back end.
Duration: Where Daxxify Defines the Category
This is the headline difference.
- Daxxify: The SAKURA program reported a median duration of approximately six months at the 40-unit glabellar dose, with a meaningful subset of patients reporting visible softening at nine months. The FDA label reflects this six-month positioning; Daxxify is currently the only cosmetic neurotoxin in the U.S. labeled this long.
- Jeuveau: Studied and labeled at the standard 3 to 4 months for glabellar lines, in line with Botox, Dysport, Letybo, and Xeomin.
On Daxxify a typical patient is in the clinic twice a year. On Jeuveau, the same patient is in three to four times a year. For people whose calendar is the binding constraint, this changes the math considerably.
Dosing and Unit Conversion
Per the FDA labels:
- Daxxify for glabellar lines: 40 units total, divided across 5 injection sites (8 units each).
- Jeuveau for glabellar lines: 20 units total, divided across 5 injection sites (4 units each).
Jeuveau uses the familiar 1:1 Botox conversion, which means an injector who is fluent in Botox is fluent in Jeuveau. Daxxify uses a roughly 2:1 ratio relative to Botox — a 40-unit Daxxify treatment is doing the equivalent of a 20-unit Botox treatment in terms of muscle relaxation, with the peptide excipient extending how long that relaxation lasts.
The unit numbers are not comparable across the two products. When you read price lists, always compare per-treatment-area cost, not per-unit cost.
Diffusion and Precision
Both products have tight, precise diffusion profiles. Jeuveau, with its 900 kDa complex, behaves very similarly to Botox in terms of how far the toxin spreads from each injection point. Daxxify, despite being built on the smaller 150 kDa core, has shown well-controlled spread in clinical use thanks to the peptide-mediated stabilization.
Neither product carries the “broader diffusion” footprint of Dysport. Both are appropriate choices for focal targets like the glabella, crow’s feet, lip lines, and bunny lines when placed by an experienced injector.
Cost: What You Will Actually Pay in 2026
The two products live in genuinely different price brackets, and the comparison only makes sense on a per-treatment basis.
- Daxxify: roughly $14–$20 per unit. A standard glabellar treatment (40 units) lands around $560–$800.
- Jeuveau: roughly $8–$12 per unit. A standard glabellar treatment (20 units) lands around $200–$280.
The most useful comparison is annualized cost. On a six-month Daxxify cycle, two treatments per year at $700 each is approximately $1,400. On a 3.5-month Jeuveau cycle, roughly 3.4 treatments per year at $240 each is approximately $820. Jeuveau is meaningfully cheaper on an annual basis — but Daxxify cuts the number of clinic visits roughly in half.
If your decision is purely budget-driven, Jeuveau wins. If you value the time and friction of fewer appointments, the Daxxify premium often pays for itself in things you cannot put a dollar figure on.
Side Effects and Safety
Both products have side effect profiles consistent with the rest of the cosmetic toxin class. In FDA-controlled trials, the most common adverse events for both were:
- Headache (3–9%)
- Injection-site reactions — bruising, redness, mild swelling (1–6%)
- Eyelid heaviness or ptosis, typically less than 2% in trained hands
- Brow asymmetry, usually correctable with a small touch-up at the 2-week mark
Both carry the FDA boxed warning about the theoretical possibility of distant toxin spread; in cosmetic facial doses this has not been a meaningful clinical concern in millions of treatments.
One excipient note worth flagging: Daxxify is the only product in this comparison without human serum albumin — it uses the RTP-004 peptide instead. Jeuveau is sometimes promoted with reference to its Hi-Pure manufacturing process, but it still contains human serum albumin. If avoiding HSA is a personal priority, Daxxify is the only option of the two.
Who Is the Ideal Candidate for Each?
Daxxify may be the better fit if:
- You want to come in twice a year instead of three or four times
- Your duration on shorter-acting toxins has consistently fallen short of 3 months and you want to test a longer-acting product
- You prefer an albumin-free excipient profile
- You have a stable, mapped-out treatment plan and are not looking to fine-tune dose visit-to-visit
Jeuveau may be the better fit if:
- You are price-sensitive and want a product that performs like Botox at a lower price point
- You are new to neurotoxin and want the familiar Botox-style 20-unit glabellar dose
- You prefer more frequent visits with the option to refine dose each time
- You only need cosmetic treatment (Jeuveau is aesthetics-only and has no therapeutic indications)
Can You Switch Between Daxxify and Jeuveau?
Yes. There is no medical reason you cannot alternate between products from one treatment to the next. A few practical notes if you are switching, or trying both to see which fits:
- Always tell your new injector exactly which product you previously had, the total dose, and roughly when. Daxxify’s six-month tail can still be partially active when a Jeuveau top-up is being considered, and your injector needs to know.
- You cannot “stack” the two in the same treatment area in the same session.
- Switching products does not eliminate the very small theoretical risk of antibody formation against type A toxins.
- If you have been on Daxxify and want to try Jeuveau’s lower per-visit cost, wait until you can clearly see your prior treatment beginning to soften before re-dosing. Treating into an active Daxxify effect can overshoot.

Daxxify vs. Jeuveau FAQ
No, Jeuveau is a separate branded product made by Evolus, not a generic. It is structurally similar to Botox — same 900 kDa complex, same 20-unit glabellar dose, 1:1 conversion — but it is its own FDA-approved drug and is sometimes called “Newtox” because it was approved exclusively for cosmetic use with no therapeutic indications.
You are paying for duration. The RTP-004 peptide that stabilizes Daxxify is more complex to manufacture, and Revance prices the product to reflect the six-month median duration. On a per-month basis the gap narrows, but Daxxify is still a premium product.
In head-to-head and parallel trials Jeuveau performed comparably to Botox at the same 20-unit glabellar dose. Many patients who have done well on Botox transition seamlessly to Jeuveau and report no perceptible difference in result quality.
Currently yes. Daxxify is the only FDA-approved cosmetic neurotoxin in the U.S. labeled and studied at six months of duration. Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Letybo, and Xeomin are all labeled at 3 to 4 months.
Usually no, as long as your injector recalculates dose appropriately. The clinical effect on relaxed glabellar muscles is similar at equivalent doses; the duration of that effect is what differs.
Neither product is recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Both carry FDA pregnancy precautions and should be deferred until after pregnancy and lactation are complete.
Standard guidance for both products: avoid strenuous exercise, lying flat, and rubbing the treated area for approximately 4 hours after injection. Flying is generally fine the same day.
